Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the Home Minister to study the incident in which a young woman lost her life after being denied citizenship in Bardiya.

Prime Minister Karki informed on Saturday through social media (Facebook) that she has instructed the Home Minister to investigate the truth of the incident. Prime Minister Karki said that she was saddened by the incident in which a young woman from Dakshin Bhakari village, Badhaiyatal-4, Bardiya, chose the path of death while struggling for citizenship and her 61-year-old father also lost his life within four days.

She said, 'This decision of theirs is a matter of shame for our society and the state. If this situation has arisen due to judicial-administrative confusion, I apologize as the Prime Minister of the country. I have instructed the Home Minister to go into the depths of this incident and study it.'

Stating that any kind of discrimination and violence on the basis of citizenship, including gender, will not be tolerated, Prime Minister Karki also appealed to all parties to facilitate the path of justice. The news about the incident was initially published in Kantipur.
