Thirty prisoners are forced to live under tents in the district jail due to overcrowding. They have been kept under tents due to a lack of sleeping space inside the building.
Prison Chief Rabindra Prasad Dhungana said that 46 of the prisoners who escaped after the Gen-G movement had to be kept under tarpaulin due to lack of space inside the room when they were transferred. According to him, due to lack of space inside the building, 15 people are now being kept under tarpaulin in two places. Due to lack of space due to the increase in the number of prisoners, they have to be kept under tarpaulin.
Stating that prisoners have had to live under tarpaulin in the past as well, he informed that some places were made by making tarpaulin in the last fiscal year. Inmates have had problems living under tarpaulin during cold and hot seasons. 'There is not enough space to live inside, they have to be kept under tarpaulin, there is a fear that they will get sick due to the cold,' he said.
He said that there is a plan to make tarpaulin in the place where the tarpaulin is this year. There are currently 630 prisoners in this office. There are 593 men and 37 women here. They also have two dependents.
The prison has a capacity of 30 women and 475 men. The 743 prisoners who escaped on Bhadra 25 are still returning. Of those who escaped, 113 are yet to return. Among them, two are children. After their return, more prisoners will have to be kept under tarpaulin.
