The National Bank has made various arrangements through the first quarterly review of monetary policy for the current fiscal year. Among them, 9 new arrangements are as follows.

• With the aim of gradually reducing the distance between the lower and upper limits of the interest rate corridor and keeping the policy rate symmetrical in the middle of the corridor, the Standing Liquidity Facility Rate, which is the upper limit of the interest rate corridor, has been reduced from 6 percent to 5.75 percent and the policy rate has been reduced from 4.50 percent to 4.25 percent. The Standing Deposit Facility Rate, which is the lower limit of the interest rate corridor, has been maintained at 2.75 percent. 
• The existing arrangement regarding mandatory cash balance and statutory liquidity ratio has been maintained as is. 
• The existing arrangement requiring banks and financial institutions to lower the interest rate on institutional term deposits by at least 1 percentage point than the interest rate on individual term deposits will be abolished. 
• The existing limit on personal overdraft loans provided by banks and financial institutions will be increased from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 10 million.
• The maximum limit of loans disbursed against collateral from microfinance financial institutions will be increased from Rs. 700,000 to Rs. 1.5 million.
•  Keeping in mind the problems faced by borrowers who have received loans from microfinance financial institutions in repaying their loans, arrangements will be made to revise the loan repayment schedule.
• Arrangements will be made to allow banks and financial institutions to restructure/reschedule loans disbursed to enterprises/businesses in other districts affected by natural disasters, including Ilam, which was affected by the recent floods/landslides, for a one-time repayment by charging a minimum of 10 percent interest.
• In the context of increasing electronic payment transactions and the significant number of branches of banks and financial institutions in the metropolis, arrangements will be made to allow banks and financial institutions to adjust/consolidate their branches in the metropolis themselves. 
• Taking into account international best practices and internally developed practices, arrangements will be made to establish a policy against bribery and corruption in banks and financial institutions to enhance transparency, accountability and good governance.
