Talks have begun at the Home Ministry between Durga Prasai, who was released from detention last Monday, and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
According to the Home Minister's Secretariat, the government has already held talks with Prasai's group twice.
Prasai, who is the coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Heritage Campaign, had sent letters calling for a nationwide shutdown since 20 Mangsir. However, the agitation was called off after an agreement was reached between the campaign and the government in Baluwatar on the night of 20 Mangsir.
The police had arrested Prasai on 1 Mangsir and investigated him for a crime against public peace. After analyzing that he had made provocative statements while announcing the agitation and that his actions could incite violence, the police had arrested Prasai at midnight from his residence in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
