Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed that the draft agreement between the government and Gen-G be finalized by Monday.
Calling the leaders of Gen-G to Singha Durbar on Friday for discussion, Prime Minister Karki instructed them to finalize it by Monday, saying that they could not wait much longer. The Gen-Gs have submitted a draft of an 11-point agreement to institutionalize the achievements of the movement. Assuring that the agreement is a political document, the Council of Ministers will take responsibility for it, Prime Minister Karki also made it clear that she would bear the consequences if she had to bear anything because she had signed it. A discussion was held on Friday in the presence of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Sports Minister Bablu Gupta to finalize the draft. However, no agreement could be reached in the discussion.
The Gen-G representative has made demands such as recognizing the uprisings of Bhadra 23 and 24 as people's movements, not prosecuting those involved in the protests, and investigating and taking action against the government for its repression.
