Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun has drawn the attention of local levels to pay the minimum salary set by the government to school employees and preschool teachers.

Minister Pun has stated that the Ministry of Education has sent a monthly salary of 12,000 for kindergarten teachers, 10,000 for school assistants, and 15,000 for school assistant employees from the federal grant. He said that local governments should distribute additional salaries so that they do not fall short of the minimum wage set by the government. The government has set a monthly salary of at least 17,000.

According to Minister Pun, so far, nearly 700 local governments have distributed additional minimum wages. The ministry has also received this information, but 53 local levels have not paid the minimum salary.

'I would like to inform you that it is the responsibility of local governments to not pay the minimum salary. Please do not do injustice to kindergarten teachers and employees. Are the trade union leaders awake to alert the local government on this issue?' he wrote on Facebook.
