Suman Raj Aryal has been appointed as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal. The Council of Ministers meeting held today decided to appoint Aryal as the Chief Secretary.

Aryal, who was promoted to secretary in 2077 Magh 19, entered the civil service from the Statistics Service. He entered the civil service as an officer in 2053 Baisakh and has a master's degree in science.

He has experience working in ministries and departments including the Planning Commission, Provincial Secretary, Ministry of Women, Office of the Auditor General, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Office of the Provincial Chief Minister, and Statistics Office. He was transferred to the position of Secretary of the Ministry of Defense last October.

From Gokarnamani Duwadi, who was Home Secretary during the Gen-G movement, Madhusudan Burlakoti, who was in the National Statistics Office, Krishnahari Pushkar, who was in the Ministry of Labor, and Pramila Devi Bajracharya, who was in the Ministry of Drinking Water, were in the news for the competition for the post of Chief Secretary.

The current Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal is retiring on Wednesday due to age limit.
