What you should know

Last Tuesday, Bhaktapur-based choreographer Arjun Khadka made a satirical video and posted it on the social media platform TikTok.

In which, not only the issue of 'UML distributing petrol coupons to cadres' is being satirized, but questions have also been raised on UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. In which Oli is asked in a rap style, 'What did you get by killing Gen-G?'.

On 29 Kartik, news was made public that fuel was distributed to show the crowd at a program organized by UML at Siraha headquarters. UML had held a motorcycle rally demanding the restoration of the House of Representatives. The news also published a photo of petrol coupons being distributed to people.

This photo was used by Khadka in his TikTok. The day after this video was made public, Khadka came under attack. After he made it public on social media that he was beaten up, a debate has started on whether content creators are safe. Meanwhile, a search has also begun to find out who the attackers are.

Khadka seems to have been posting various videos on social media using his mother Sushila. He said that on that day, he made the video to protest after hearing the news that 76 people had died in the Gen-G movement and that even in such a situation, a certain party was distributing fuel to lure activists.

He says that he was beaten up for making the video by taking his mother and students who come to his dance center with him. He runs a dance center in Lokanthali. The next day after making the video, he was beaten up by five strangers while returning to his room at around 9 pm. 'I was returning home after finishing class as usual. When I was about to reach home, a group called me O Bhai. I reached there. As soon as I reached there, someone slapped me on the cheek. Later, everyone started beating him,' he said. 'They ran away after the locals gathered.' He said that the attackers beat him saying, 'You make a video of whatever you get, you will say it'.

He said that after the beating, he felt like fainting. He said that he could not even go to the police due to fear after this incident. 'I am a normal person. At that time, I did not speak out because I was afraid. The family has said that I should speak out for my safety,' he said. 'I do not know much about the legal process. I am afraid that those who beat me today can do anything tomorrow.'

Support from creators

When he checked when he uploaded the video on the 'Popstar' digital tool, it appears that it was uploaded at 8:17 am on Wednesday. As of the time of preparing this content, the video has been viewed 3.4 million times. More than 300 reactions and more than 3,000 comments are visible.

Many people have made videos in support of him on TikTok. Many creators have supported him by running the 'Justice for ARK' and 'Support ARK' campaigns. A creator named Nishan Mainali has made two videos related to the same saying 'Jholele Pithech'. Hundreds of videos have been posted so far in support of Khadka.
