23 different groups of Gen-G have demanded that President Ram Chandra Poudel recall Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
By submitting a memorandum to the President's Office on Thursday, 23 groups of Gen-G have demanded the removal of Karki from the post of Prime Minister. The memorandum alleges that Karki has failed to act as per the mandate of the Bhadra 23 and 24 uprising as Prime Minister.
The memorandum states that there are five different demands, but none of them have been fulfilled. The demands include action against those involved in major corruption cases in the country, constitutional amendment for a directly elected Prime Minister, action against those involved in the massacre in the uprising, treatment of the injured in the Gen-G uprising, and proper compensation and maintenance for the families of the martyrs of the Gen-G uprising, but none of them have been fulfilled, the groups claim.
'The government formed on the basis of the uprising has been found to be in a directionless state, ignoring all expectations and holding only one election instead of fulfilling the minimum expectations of the rebels.' This rebellion and martyrdom were not just for the early elections,' the memorandum states, 'Therefore, we, the 23 alliances of Gen-G involved in the rebellion, the injured and martyred families, this government should immediately address the demands of the rebel side. Otherwise, if this government cannot fulfill the demands of the rebel side, we request your honorable sir to recall this government and play the role of mediator for the formation of a new government under our leadership.'
They have also warned that if they do not do as they say, there will be another peaceful movement and pressure program against the government.
