The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order in favor of five members of the Madhesh Province Assembly who were dismissed by Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal. The order was issued by a bench of Supreme Court Justice Nityanand Pandey on Monday.

Urmila Devi Singh (Nagarik Unmukti Party), Manish Kumar Suman (JSP), Sanjay Kumar Yadav (JSP), Sinhasan Sah Kalwar (JSP) and Sharada Shankar Prasad Kalwar (JSP) had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Speaker Mandal.

The Supreme Court heard the writ petition filed against the decision of the Speaker Mandal on Monday. In which, along with a short-term interim order, a show cause order and a discussion on the interim order have been called.

Last Thursday, a motion was registered against the Speaker Mandal for unbecoming conduct in office. Parties other than the UML representing the Provincial Assembly had proposed to remove Mandal from the position of Speaker. In return, the Speaker Mandal had dismissed five MPs.

The Speaker had dismissed five members of the Provincial Assembly for being absent from 10 consecutive meetings of the Provincial Assembly as per Article 180 (d) of the Constitution.
