Janardan Sharma, the then Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center, who was not involved in the unity process between the CPN-Maoist Center and the left-wing parties including the Unified Socialists, has also increased his activity in Chitwan.
Supporters of Sharma, the then Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center, who did not join the unification process between the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists, have also increased their activity in Chitwan. Chitwan is also the home district of Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the coordinator of the then Maoist Center and the Nepali Communist Party formed after the unification. The district committee of the Progressive National Campaign Nepal formed by Sharma was announced in Chitwan on Sunday. The campaign's Chitwan coordinator is Deepak Shahi. Shahi is a member of the Bagmati Province Secretariat of the then Maoist Center. Similarly, provincial member Rishi Chapagain and Bharatpur Metropolitan Vice President Pavitra Rijal have also joined Sharma's campaign. Sudarshan Poudel has come as the central representative of the campaign. He is the head of the first 'people's government' of Chitwan formed by the Maoists during the armed conflict. He is a central member of the Maoist party and a person who has been actively involved in the local elections in Bharatpur metropolis. ‘From today, we announce that our activism and campaign in Chitwan have officially started,’ said Poudel.
Shahi, the campaign’s Chitwan coordinator, said that they have come together to control corruption and establish good governance, and to build a political party that is in line with the times, rather than one that operates under autocratic centralism based on one person. He claimed that he would end the leader-dominated system and develop a new type of party and governance system.
