Madhesh Province Government Formation Dispute: Order to have representation from Attorney General's Office

What you should know

The Supreme Court has raised questions about the Attorney General's Office trying to defend the Madhesh provincial government formation dispute. In a hearing held on Sunday for discussions between both sides, the Supreme Court ordered that the Attorney General's Office should represent the provincial chief, saying that it was not the right representation.

The bench of Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Nripadhwaj Niraula has made this order. ‘In the order of this court dated 2082. 7.26, a written response should be submitted on behalf of the Madhesh Province Chief and representation should be through the Attorney General’s Office, but since different procedures have been mentioned regarding the representation in this regard, it seems that the written response should be submitted in the case of the defendants no. 1 and 2 and the defense should be through the Attorney General’s Office,’ the order said.

‘In the discussion of the interim order, including the scheduled interim order, the provincial chief should be present, and the office of the concerned Attorney General and the office of the Chief Justice should be informed in the case of the other defendants and the hearing date for the discussion of the interim order should be fixed for 2082.08.01 and submitted as per the rules,’ the order said.

The joint bench has fixed the hearing for Mangsir 1 for the discussion of the interim order.
