Newly appointed Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki has decided to provide emergency loans to office assistants to senior inspectors and their dependent families. After assuming office on Thursday, the decision was made to provide concessional loans to be spent from the Police Welfare Fund through a Policy Making Committee (PCC) meeting.

An official at the Police Headquarters said that it has been decided to provide loans at a 5 percent interest rate.

The loans will be given in emergencies such as health, education, and household problems. The Police Headquarters has stated that the loan limit will be up to 200,000 rupees.

Karki was promoted to IGP from the Cabinet meeting on Kartik 24. Three days later, he assumed the responsibility of the 33rd IGP from Thursday. This is his first decision to provide loans under the same responsibility.
