The Royal Oman Police has decided to amend some provisions of the Implementation Regulations of the Civil Status Law.
According to the decision, the maximum validity of both the personal identity card and the residence card of migrant workers, including Nepalis, living in Oman will be 10 years.
According to the decision issued by the police, the personal identity card will be valid for 10 years, while the residence card can also be issued for a maximum of 10 years. Its category and control details will be determined by the Director General of Police.
The new decision also determines the fees for issuing, renewing and replacing cards and certificates.
According to the Royal Oman Police, cardholders must mandatorily renew their cards within 30 days of their expiration date. Those who do not renew on time have been warned that action will be taken according to the relevant law.
The new provision is said to be aimed at facilitating administrative processes and making the citizen identification system modern and long-lasting.
