Dan Bahadur Karki appointed as Inspector General of Police

The Cabinet meeting has appointed Dan Bahadur Karki as the Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP). The Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to promote Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karki to the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP), a minister said.

Karki will assume the charge of Inspector General from Kartik 27.

Karki, who joined the service as a police inspector in Chaitra 2054, will remain as the Inspector General of Police until Chaitra 2084, having completed 30 years of service. Karki was currently the chief of the Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari. He was given the responsibility of the Valley Police Chief on Bhadauma 24.

The current Inspector General of Police, Chandrakuber Khapung, is about to retire due to his 30 years of service. The newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Karki, was promoted from DIG to AIG on Baisakh 15, 2082. Six months later, he was promoted to Inspector General of Police.

Karki, along with AIGs Rajan Adhikari, Manoj KC and Siddhi Bikram Shah, were in the running for the post of Inspector General. Among them, Karki, Adhikari and KC are officers who joined the service as police inspectors in Chaitra 2054. Shah, on the other hand, was transferred from the National Investigation Department and joined the Nepal Police.
