Durga Prasai stopped by Indian immigration while returning to Nepal, released after 40 minutes of questioning* [Update]

Medical professional Durga Prasai was released after being questioned for 40 minutes by Indian immigration officials while returning to Nepal from India.

He was stopped at the Delhi airport for a security check after going to India last Monday and returning to Kathmandu on Friday evening. There was a discussion between the Nepali Embassy in Delhi and Indian immigration officials about his flight and the reason for his stoppage.

'Prasai was being monitored by Indian security agencies,' said an official of the embassy in Delhi. 'Further surveillance was increased after receiving information that he had come to India.'

He was stopped by immigration officials for 40 minutes while returning to Nepal on Nepal Airlines' RA-218 flight.

According to a Nepal Airlines source in Delhi, Prasai returned to Kathmandu from Delhi on Friday evening via Nepal Airlines flight number RA-218. A ticket for Prasai on the said flight was already booked.

According to the source, this narrow-body plane of Nepal Airlines took off at 9 am on Friday, Delhi time. According to the regular schedule of Nepal Airlines' Delhi-Kathmandu flight, the plane was scheduled to land in Kathmandu at 4:40 PM. It is said that the delay was due to the plane being grounded in Delhi on Thursday for repairs. The brakes of the plane were fanned at the AIASL Maintenance and Repair Shop (MRO). This was a pre-scheduled program.

An airline source said that today's flight was completed on time.

A source there said that Prasai called the Indian leader in Hindi while being questioned at the immigration in Delhi.

According to the source, Prasai had also flown from Kathmandu to Delhi on the same Nepal Airlines flight a few days ago. At the boarding gate, he did not have any formal or informal conversation with the airline staff. His seat was in economy class.
