President Ram Chandra Poudel has arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday to participate in the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' to be held from November 18 to 20.

President Poudel arrived in Doha, Qatar, at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, leading a Nepali delegation to participate in the conference.

President Poudel was welcomed at the Hamad International Airport in Doha by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Nepali Ambassador Ramesh Chandra Poudel, and high-ranking officials of the embassy, ​​along with Nepal's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa.

President Poudel is scheduled to address the main session of the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' to be held in Doha, Qatar, on Kartik 18, as per the decision of the United Nations General Assembly. In addition, President Poudel will meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, among others, on the occasion of the conference.

The previous conference was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995. The conference is expected to discuss issues such as the inequality of development faced by the world today, the imbalance in population, and the impact of technology on society.

Nepal has always been an active and committed member of the United Nations since it became a member in 1955. Nepal currently holds the presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. President Poudel will return home on Kartik 20 after completing his official visit to Qatar.
