The Passport Department has clarified that it will distribute 1,000 passports daily. The department has stated that it will provide passports daily (except public holidays) starting this evening.
The department has already signed a purchase agreement with a new supplier for the supply of electronic passports in Shrawan last year, and according to the agreement, new infrastructure and systems are being built so that the passport service will start from Falgun 11, the department said in a statement issued today.
The department has stated that there are some problems in the distribution of passports due to the transitional period (handover and takeover) between the new supplier and the current supplier, the limited number of passport booklets, and high demand from service recipients.
Necessary initiatives are being taken to ensure that there is no shortage of passports until that period and until further notice, the department has urged everyone to apply for passports only for essential service recipients. The department has drawn attention to not relying on unauthorized persons regarding passport matters and to beware of fraud that may be committed by such persons.
