The Miteri Bridge connecting Nepal and China at Rasuwagadhi is set to be completed within a month. The Chinese side is constructing the bridge at a time when traffic between the two countries has been suspended after the floods in Lhendkhola last July washed away the bridge.

Rasuwa Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi informed that the construction of the bridge will be completed within a month after discussions with Chinese officials and that a meeting will be held again to decide the date of operation. Stating that the Chinese side has given priority to the construction of the Miteri Bridge in Rasuwagadhi despite the adverse weather, he said that information has been received that transport will be operational within a month if there are no unforeseen circumstances.

The destruction of the Miteri Bridge has led to a loss of at least 14-15 billion rupees in revenue due to the halt in import and export through the border crossing, according to Chief Customs Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai. 14 billion rupees in customs duty was collected during the same period of the last fiscal year.

According to technicians working in the field, although the 16-km highway on the Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road section is being repaired and constructed, the work has not progressed as expected due to landslides and river erosion. The Department of Roads has stated that the road has not been repaired as quickly as expected due to landslides in the area between Timure and Tatopani, the cliffs near Lingling, Kagtibari, and the southern part of Ghattekhola, including several places where the river has eroded the road.

The District Administration Office, Rasuwa, has stated that the Disaster Management Committee has directed to complete the construction of the road section as soon as possible in a quality manner.
