Prime Minister Karki said, ”An elected government is necessary for stability. Elections and political parties complement each other. This system cannot function without political parties.”
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that Gen Z, divided into different groups, should understand the sensitivity of the current times and the limits of the interim government. Stating that some Gen Z are misguided and some are fierce, she said that they should move forward with restraint.
Prime Minister Karki made this statement during a discussion with the Chief Ministers of all seven provinces in Baluwatar on Sunday. He said that the views of the Gen-Gs are coming from different levels.
According to the information provided by the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Karki said that some of the participants in the Gen-G movement are right, but some are acting arbitrarily. 'Some Gen-Gs come here (Prime Minister's Office) and talk loudly. Some are right inside here, but they speak arbitrarily when they go outside. Whatever happens, they are all our children. They are learning. Some even speak very maturely. They know more than us,' Karki had said. 'We have also asked the Gen-Gs to form a party, participate in the elections and get their agenda approved by the people. Some have gone astray, some are even violent. They should understand the sensitivity of this time and the limits of the interim government.'
The Prime Minister also said that no one in the current government has bad intentions. 'Some things may be up and down when written or spoken. But, our intentions are not bad. There is no reason for anyone to have doubts. We will move forward in cooperation with you. We will work within the framework given by the constitution. We must respect the structures created by the constitution,' Prime Minister Karki had said.
Prime Minister Karki had said that a government elected by the people is needed for stability in the country and a political party is indispensable for elections. 'An elected government is needed for stability. Elections and political parties complement each other. This system cannot work without a political party. That is why even people known as independent experts are opening parties to contest the elections,' she had said.
Prime Minister Karki had said that the main priority of the current government is to create an environment for elections. 'The process of purchasing urgently needed vehicles for the police has already begun. Neighboring countries are also providing vehicles. Some friendly countries have promised financial support.
90 percent of the police structures damaged in the protests have been rebuilt by the local people. This has helped boost the morale of the police and strengthen their relationship with the people. This is very meaningful and exemplary for the world,' he said. 'Elections have been held even in a much more adverse situation than now. The Gen-Gs themselves have said that elections should be held and can be held in the current situation. I feel that the atmosphere has become more favorable to elections through dialogue with the parties.'
On Bhadra 24, the Prime Minister also said that weapons stolen and lost from the police are being found. 'The location of the weapons that are yet to be recovered has also been found. Escaped prisoners are also returning,' the Prime Minister said. 'We can be sure that a safe environment will be created.' The province should also play a role in this work, and the local government should also join hands. We will move forward in coordination with all three levels of government. We are now holding discussions with representatives of the local government.'
