The Federation of Nepali Journalists has expressed disagreement with some of the provisions included in the government's Printing Press and Publication (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2082.
The federation issued a statement on Sunday, expressing its disagreement with some of the provisions of the regulations, saying that they are against the free press.
The federation said, 'There is a control-oriented provision that imposes a fee for free registration and renewal, monitoring and inspection by local authorities, an impractical provision that requires publication of a notice in three national dailies to cancel the certificate of registered online newspapers, and a discriminatory provision that newspapers registered under the same act do not have to be renewed, but online newspapers have to be renewed every year.'
The federation has also strongly demanded that the government immediately correct the provisions mentioned against the free press.
