In a meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, the Chief Ministers of all seven provinces said they are ready to cooperate with the federal government to create an environment for the election.
A meeting with the Chief Ministers of all seven provinces was held in a cordial atmosphere today at the call of Prime Minister Sushila Karki. In the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, the Chief Ministers of all seven provinces said that they are ready to cooperate with the federal government to create an environment for the election.
Appreciating Prime Minister Karki for initiating dialogue and discussions with all parties, including political parties, they also expressed their belief that these steps would be fruitful in creating an environment in favor of the election.
The Chief Ministers expressed the view that the main challenge of the election is the issue of peace and security, so they should take it seriously. They said that if the federal, provincial and local governments work with a spirit of cooperation, coordination and coexistence, the election can be held on the scheduled date.
Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel said, "I represent the UML. We are not against the election. However, the federal government should work to create an environment for the election and not forget our role in it. The only way out now is the election."
They suggested that the federal government itself should bring a package for the reconstruction of the structures damaged during the Gen-G movement.
Similarly, they also said that there was a suspicion that the circular issued by the federal government to cut expenses was an attempt to interfere in the jurisdiction of the provincial government.
The federal government had given guidelines such as not allowing more assistants and advisors than the law allows, and mandatory bidding for project contracts above Rs 1 million.
They also expressed suspicion that the government formed by the Gen-G movement had not carried out judicial and administrative reforms but had issued circulars targeting only the convenience of political office-bearers in the province.
Madhesh Province Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar demanded that relief be announced for farmers affected by drought and heavy rains.
The chief ministers also drew attention to the impact of the decision to cut the electricity lines of industries that did not pay the dues of dedicated feeders on the industry as well as on the revenue of the workers and the government.
Prime Minister Karki also said that since the political parties are the bearers of this system, he is eager to hold elections as soon as possible and hand over power to the party government.
