Necessary precautions have been taken, keeping in mind the risk that tourists may face problems due to heavy snowfall due to the lack of communication access in the Annapurna Base Camp area.
A team of security personnel has been mobilized to facilitate tourists visiting the Annapurna First Base Camp area due to bad weather and snowfall. The Annapurna Base Camp area located in Narchyang, Annapurna Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi has been experiencing heavy snowfall since last night.
Due to the large number of tourists arriving and the lack of access to communication, there is a risk of tourists getting sick and stranded, so in coordination with the rural municipality, a team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been mobilized on the 'Maurice Herzog' trekking route to the base camp to facilitate tourists, informed Chief District Officer Badri Prasad Tiwari.
According to him, the team, which also includes Indra Singh Sherchan, a well-known mountain rescue worker, has left for the base camp area via Narchyang and Humkhola. Due to the lack of access to communication in the Annapurna base camp area, necessary precautions have been taken keeping in mind the risk of tourists getting into trouble due to heavy snowfall.
According to the weather bulletin issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of snowfall and rain in the Himalayan region until next Friday, and the District Administration Office has stated that going to the Annapurna base camp during that period is completely prohibited.
The rural municipality has also issued a notice urging tourists visiting the Annapurna Base Camp, Khopralek, Mohredanda, Punhill and other mountainous areas that have been hit by snowfall due to bad weather to stay safe and exercise caution.
