Heavy rains have been reported in Manang and Mustang today as the weather has turned cloudy due to the westerly winds and a low pressure system originating from the Arabian Sea.

According to Dinkar Kayastha, Information Officer of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall was recorded in Manang and Mustang today. According to the department, 64.4 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Chame in Manang in the last 24 hours. Similarly, Jomsom in Mustang has received 51.2 millimeters of rainfall. Rainfall from fifty millimeters to 100 millimeters is measured as heavy rainfall. The department has reported moderate to heavy rainfall in many other districts. According to the records till 3:40 pm, 36 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Dunai in Dolpa and 13 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Jumla. In the last 12 hours, 24 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Baglung and Parbat, 21.8 millimeters in Pyuthan, and 29.6 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Sindhupalchowk. Chitwan has received 23 millimeters of rainfall and Lamjung has received 27 millimeters of rainfall. The department has stated that there has been heavy snowfall in the mountainous region and rain in the lower regions. Although the cold has increased in the Kathmandu Valley, the rain has become lighter.

It is said that there is a possibility of heavy snowfall and rain in some places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces tonight.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority spokesperson Shanti Mahat has requested everyone to take necessary precautions as the rain and snowfall continue.
