Newly appointed Minister for Health and Population Sudha Sharma Gautam has taken charge. While taking charge, she said that her first decision was to provide psychological counseling services to those injured during the Gen-G movement.
Responding to the media, Minister Sharma pledged to make the procurement process completely transparent and end corruption. She said, 'The Gen-G protest was for the end of corruption and good governance. Therefore, corruption should not be heard from anywhere.'
Minister Sharma said that considering the current situation in the country, she has prioritized the issue of mental health.
She said that the budget arrangement and other processes will be taken forward in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to arrange free health insurance for the families of those martyred in the Gen-G movement. Minister Sharma opined that since the current government is a civilian government, its evaluation will be done only through its work.
She said that she will take initiatives to resolve the problems of the agitating nurses regarding the issue of remuneration.
The newly appointed Health Minister Sharma, who has worked as the Health Secretary, is also an obstetrician and gynecologist as well as a public health expert.
