On 24 Bhadra, ASI Hom Bahadur BK was asking for help on the communication set, saying that police were being killed in Maharajgunj. He was crying and shaking in fear. At that time, the police were being attacked. ASI Milan Rai of Maharajgunj and Jawan Uttam Thapa were killed. Meanwhile, in Koteshwor, Police Assistant Constable Amrit Gurung was also killed by protesters. Some involved in these incidents have been arrested.

Police Circle Yubaraj Kyapchaki, 28, of Baluwatar, Kavre, a permanent resident of Kavre, Sonam Tamang alias Budhilal Thing, 21, of Makawanpur, a resident of Chandragiri, Hom Prasad Poudel, 62, of Dhumbarahi, and Tikaram BK, 28, of Balkumari, Lalitpur-8, have been arrested on charges of attempted murder and criminal mischief. A case has been filed against them for murder and criminal mischief. 

According to the ‘Call Detail Record (CDR), Yuvraj was active in the Bishalnagar area at 6:47 am. He was seen on Kumari Marg near the ring road from 8:54 to 10:15 am, North Gate at 11:37 am, Kumari Marg from 12:15 to 5:26 pm, and around Narayangopal Chowk from 6 to 7 pm. In his statement to the police, another accused Tamang has also confessed to the crime. Poudel has also admitted to hitting Thapa with a wooden bat. Thapa was dragged out of the office and brought out at first. Then, he was brought to the corner of the inner road behind Bhatbhateni Super Market and was indiscriminately attacked with sharp weapons including sticks, iron rods, batons, bricks, stones and others with the intention of killing him. 

Even after causing serious injuries, he was treated ‘humiliatingly’. The injured policemen, including ASI BK, who was calling for help on the communication set, were rescued by an army helicopter and admitted to the Nepal Police Hospital.  According to SSP Ramesh Thapa, Chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, four of the nine people involved in the police killing are in custody for trial. Based on the investigation conducted by the police, the court has ordered their remand in custody in a case filed by the District Government Attorney's Office, Kathmandu. 'We are still investigating the remaining five people by keeping them in custody,' he says. 

Ashes collected after a month and a half

Similarly, two people have been arrested on charges of vandalizing a Janasewa Police vehicle and setting fire to a building by throwing petrol bombs. Those arrested are Sujal Shah Sonar, 22, alias Sujan Shah, a permanent resident of Basantapur in Sunsari, and Rohit Sarabgi, an Indian citizen, 25. The police arrested them on the basis of CCTV footage. Sujan was selling clothes on the sidewalk in Basantapur. He has given a statement that he went with the protesters after his acquaintance Rohit came carrying a stick and a motorcycle helmet. Rohit, on the other hand, said that although his permanent address is Rajasthan, India, his father married a Nepali citizen, so he was born/brought up here and has been working as a driver.

Similarly, the police had arrested 22-year-old Indian citizen Neeraj Poddar, a resident of Dolakha, and 27-year-old Sajan Tamang from Kathmandu, who vandalized and set fire to the Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku. They had taken to the protest with weapons stolen from the office. Amid the situation that arose after the Gen-G movement, the police arrested 237 people from across the country on charges of being involved in 'criminal activities' on 24 Bhadra. According to Central Police Spokesperson DIG Binod Ghimire, they were arrested from all provinces except Koshi for the crimes of taking police weapons, looting personal property, criminal nuisance and indecent behavior. "The accused involved in criminal activities in the situation that arose after the Gen-G movement are in police custody, some have been released on bail," he said, "Cases are also being registered according to the crime." 

According to DIG Dinesh Kumar Acharya, 13 people have been arrested for helping to escape prisoners from jail in Gandaki and for looting police uniforms. According to Bagmati Province Chief DIG Arun Poudel, 6 people have been arrested with ammunition and weapons stolen in Kavre and Chitwan. Provincial Police Chief DIG Govinda Thapaliya says that investigations are underway in Madhesh to loot personal property, snatch police weapons, and incite terror. According to DIG Om Bahadur Rana, 18 people involved in such activities in the Far West were taken into custody from various districts and released after making concessions, while four have been charged with indecent behavior. "Four people were found with weapons in Kailali, we have sent them to Kathmandu for action," Rana said. According to Central Police Spokesperson Ghimire, most of those arrested are from Kathmandu Valley.

Youth Sangh cadre arrested on charges of arson of former President Bhandari's house 

Police have arrested Sonam Thebe, a cadre of UML's sister organization, Yuva Sangh, on charges of arson at the house of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on 24 Bhadra. He was also close to Chakre Milan, who was previously known as the gangster. The police are investigating based on CCTV footage and videos and photos received on social media. According to the police, he was arrested after he was also seen involved in the arson.

However, Thebe has given a statement to the police and claimed that the fire had already broken out before he reached Bhangal. He has also denied the charges against him. Youth Sangh spokesperson Niroj Poudel, in a statement, has insisted that Thebe is not a person in any position of responsibility in the organization. A police officer involved in the investigation says, "He appears to be close to UML and people with gangster backgrounds. We are trying to confirm other matters further."

The person who stole the conch shell from Deuba's house and the refrigerator from Gagan's house has also been arrested

The police have also arrested those involved in the theft of conch shells and idols from the house of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Vijay Lama of Chitwan was arrested with the stolen conch shells, Buddha and Ganesh idols, among others. He has claimed that he did not steal them but found them on the street. The protesters who reached Budhanilkantha even beat up the Deuba couple. Later, the army rescued them and took them to the military hospital camp. Police Circle Gaushala has arrested 40-year-old Ramesh Thami, a resident of Sindhuli and currently living in Ratopul, on the charge of stealing a refrigerator and a water heater from the house of Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa. The refrigerator and water heater have also been recovered from him. Saroj Alam, 18, has been arrested on charges of involvement in the robbery at the house of former Executive Director of the Electricity Authority Hitendradev Shakya.

 Arrested on charges of robbery at Shakya's house in Lalitpur-11, he is currently in custody at Nakkhu Prison for remand. Fursang Lama, 22-year-old Sajad Miya Mansuri, and 29-year-old Manish Sunar, who were arrested in the same case, have been released on bail. Sujan Sewa, 29, of Udayapur, and Sanjay Pariyar, 30, of Mahottari, have been arrested on charges of involvement in the robbery at the house of former Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki. "They have been produced in court and ordered to be released on bail," said an officer of the Lalitpur Police.

Similarly, during the protest, theft was also found in the room of a person staying in Gokarneshwor Municipality-9. Victim Smriti Lama has filed a complaint alleging that three people, including Resta Tamang, entered the room during the protest and stole an iPhone 11, a ring, a chain, 85,000 rupees in cash, a watch, a jacket, headphones, slippers and a mask. Resta has admitted that she is the person seen in the CCTV. However, she claims that she was not involved in the theft. According to her statement to the police, Resta's husband Prem Tamang died in a car accident three years ago. After that, she had been living in someone else's house with her four-year-old son and doing laundry.

Juvenile arrested in connection with the robbery of a commercial bank

27-year-old Deepak Shrestha and another juvenile have been arrested on charges of involvement in the robbery of the Rastriya Banijya Bank located to the west of the Parliament Building. According to the complaint filed by the bank's branch manager Pradyuman Karki, on 24 Bhadra, an ATM machine was vandalized in the bank, causing damage of more than 41 million rupees. The police complaint states that 17 kg 769.41 grams of gold deposited by the customer as security for a loan was looted. 

Three days after the incident, a joint team of the Nepal Army and the police arrested the teenager involved. 350,000 rupees, a Tilhari, a mangalsutra, and a ring were also recovered from him. He was arrested in Bhakundebesi, Kavre, while fleeing from Koteshwor and taking a microbus to Siraha. After finding cash and gold with him, the police deployed from Kavre arrested him and filed a case.

Similarly, on 24 Bhadra, the police have also investigated those who were seen 'snapping' motorcycles wearing 'TOB' T-shirts. The officers have concluded that action cannot be taken on the basis of wearing a T-shirt and jacket without any other offense. At that time, a video of him showing a pistol on the Bijuli Bazaar bridge wearing a 'TOB' T-shirt went public on social media. The young man who showed a pistol in this way is currently in police custody. He has claimed that the pistol is not genuine and was made for video purposes. The police are also investigating other matters related to him. 

Threateners in custody

Arjun Shahi has been arrested on charges of threatening government employees in the name of Gen-G. He was also seen at Prime Minister Sushila Karki's oath-taking in Baluwatar. According to Ramesh Thapa, Chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, a police identity card was also found with him. 'When the police team went to bring it, a police ID card was found,' Thapa said, 'We are investigating further.' The identity card of an Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) working at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority was found with him. The identity card bears the name of Kumar Sharma. The investigating officers suspect that Sharma may have used his lost identity card to threaten various people. The police arrested him after receiving complaints about his activities.

After the Gen-G movement, he had been meeting and interrogating the heads of various government offices, saying that he would submit a memorandum. Employees of the Civil Aviation Authority and Nepal Airlines Corporation had complained about his activities. He used to visit offices with YouTubers and demand the resignation of employees. Later, when Shahi was investigated, it was revealed that he was also accused of foreign fraud and banking crimes. He was arrested by the Valley Crime Investigation Office on April 28, 2002, on charges of fraud, saying that he would send him to Korea. 

On August 23, when the state suppressed the Gen-G movement against corruption, at least 22 people were shot dead in a single day. The next day's demonstration took the form of destruction. Important structures including the Parliament Building, Singha Durbar, and the Supreme Court were set on fire. The houses of top leaders, party offices, and local level people's representatives were also set on fire and vandalized. Looting also took place in many places. The police are currently investigating individuals with "criminal mindsets and backgrounds" who infiltrated the movement in the name of protest. The death toll in the Gen-G movement has reached 76 as the second day draws to a close.
