Man arrested for stealing fridge and cooker from Congress leader Gagan Thapa's house

A man has been arrested on charges of stealing a refrigerator and a stove from the house of Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa amid the situation arising from the Gen-G movement.

Police Circle Gaushala has arrested 40-year-old Ramesh Thami, a resident of Sindhuli and currently residing in Ratopul. According to a police officer from Gaushala, a refrigerator and a van have also been recovered from his possession.

On 23 Bhadra, at least 22 people were shot dead in a single day when the state side repressed the protest against corruption by the Gen-G. The next day's protest took the form of destruction. Important structures including the Parliament building, Singha Durbar, and the Supreme Court were set on fire.

The houses of top leaders, party offices, and local level people's representatives were also set on fire and vandalized. Looting also took place in most places. The police are currently investigating people with 'criminal mindsets and backgrounds' who entered the protest in the name of protest.

The death toll in the Genji movement had reached 76 by the second day.
