The Nepal Army has said that it has stopped a group carrying gelatin with the intention of attacking Tribhuvan International Airport.

Assistant Lieutenant General Manoj Thapa revealed this at a press conference organized on Friday to inform about the physical and human losses caused by the Gen-G movement. 'We stopped those who came with gelatin with the intention of attacking the airport,' he said. 'If the airport had been closed, Nepal's image would have been tarnished internationally.'

Similarly, the army has stated that 978 weapons were looted due to the situation created by the movement. Only 586 of the looted weapons have been recovered and returned.

Similarly, 15,588 prisoners escaped, of which 8,799 have been arrested and returned.

The maximum damage to 688 government offices was caused by the vandalism and arson on the 24th. According to the army, 307 police offices, 259 private residences, 198 political party offices and 128 commercial establishments were vandalized and arsoned.

The total number of deaths at 76 included 22 protesters, 3 police officers, 10 prisoners and 41 others, the army said in a press conference on Friday.

The army also said that 61 VIPs were airlifted during the Gen-G movement.
