Nepal and Oman have managed to qualify for the World Cup for the second consecutive time after Qatar defeated Japan by 3 wickets and UAE defeated Samoa by 77 runs in the day match on Wednesday. Nepal and Oman had qualified for the World Cup by finishing in the top two positions in the Asian qualifiers held in Kathmandu in 2023.

Canada from the American region, Netherlands and Italy from Europe and Zimbabwe and Namibia from Africa had qualified for this Twenty-Twenty World Cup. The tournament being held in Oman will determine one more team to qualify for the Twenty20 World Cup. UAE, Samoa, Qatar and Japan are likely to be among them. Nepal will play the final match of the Super Six against Samoa on Friday. If Nepal defeats Samoa in the last two matches, it will win the Twenty20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific qualifiers.
‘We knew we had qualified for the World Cup even before we played Oman. But we were playing for the title, so it was important to win the match against Oman and go to the top of the points table,’ Nepal captain Rohit Poudel told the official broadcaster, ‘I am feeling very happy right now, which cannot be described in words, because we have been dreaming of this for the last 1 year. We will continue to play better than this and will do even better in the World Cup.’
