Today is World Post Day. Today, this day is celebrated in different countries of the world with the slogan 'Local service, global reach'. This day is celebrated on October 9 every year as the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in Bern, the capital of Switzerland.

 The General Assembly of the World Postal Union held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969 announced the World Postal Day. Then the world's  Different countries have been celebrating this day annually.

On this day, post offices of many countries have been doing promotional programs for new postal products and services.

On the occasion of the World Postal Day, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that the connection between urban and rural areas has been established through the post office and that the network of postal workers has connected remote villages and cities and made the world accessible to everyone.
