The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission filed a case against 13 people including Bhandari in the special court on Thursday for corruption in the purchase of MRI and CT scan equipment for the institution. It is mentioned in the charge sheet filed by the authority that Bhandari, the then Vice-Chancellor of the institution, committed irregularities in the purchase of MRI machines by using low-quality equipment in a malicious manner against the Public Procurement Act and Regulations, and without identifying the need for purchase and making a purchase master plan, by asking for a budget and buying it in connivance with officials and employees.
In that case, the authority, the then vice chancellor of the institution, Bhandari, then K.M. Registrar Jhankar Lamichhane, the then Finance Manager Kailash Prasad Dev, Biomedical Engineer Sharad Bhandari, Biomedical Engineer Amit Kumar Chaudhary of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Maharajganj, Deputy Finance Manager Nitin Kurmi, Branch Officer of the institution Shadow D.C., another Branch Officer Sriram Chaudhary, I.T. Officer Hiralal Bhandari, then Civil Engineer Madan Bhandari, then Senior Assistant Anju Sharma, then Biomedical Engineer of Health Services Department Sujata Bhattarai and Lumbini Healthcare Pvt. And a case has been filed against Post Raj Gyawali, the chairman of the said company.
has accused them of corruption of 127 million 60 thousand 946 rupees and has demanded to recover 9 million 34 million 26 thousand 619 rupees from each of them.
