The water level in three rivers of Saptakoshi has reached the danger level. The Department of Water and Meteorology has called on the people living in the coastal areas to be alert as the water level has crossed the danger level in Arun, Tamor and Sunkoshi.
Vinod Parajuli, a senior hydrologist of the department, informed that in the Chatra area of Sunsari, erosion has been crossing the danger level since morning. He said that even though the rain had stopped in that area since morning, this happened because of the water falling on the upper part of Saptakoshi. It takes up to 18 hours for the flood of Saptakoshi's tributary to reach Chatra.
It is estimated that the area will drop from the level of danger to the level of vigilance by the morning of Tuesday, October 20th, according to the department. In Nakote of Sindhupalchok, the water level has reached the alert level due to the melting of snow. Senior hydrologist Parajuli said that there is no need to panic.
