The Ministry of Health and Population has urged people to be alert as water-borne diseases appear during natural disasters.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the spokesperson of the ministry, urged to avoid natural disasters even if there are immediate injuries and other physical damage, because water-borne diseases appear later.

According to him, water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, and insect-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria, which can be caused by water pollution during natural calamities, are also expected to increase, so everyone has been asked to be cautious. It is also requested to go to the health institution immediately if such symptoms appear.

Similarly, Dr. Budhathoki says that people affected by natural disasters will not be able to eat and live well, and food-related diseases, eye diseases and mental diseases will also appear. He informed that after the natural disaster, the Ministry through health volunteers, local health workers and public representatives has been asked to spread the necessary awareness to drink pure boiled water and pay attention to hygiene.

The ministry has also requested to contact the hotline 102 as there is an ambulance with trained drivers and medical staff in case of emergency.

Similarly, in case of emergency, if you need information about any health-related problem, you are also requested to contact 1115. The ministry has also instructed the hospital to be in a state of preparedness as landslides and other natural disasters may occur due to continuous rains and may cause accidents, injuries and negative effects on public health.
