The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has requested to keep the passengers who are stopped on the highway in a safe place and make necessary arrangements including food and health care.

The authority issued a circular to all the district administration offices today and requested the stranded passengers to provide the necessary assistance in coordination with the relevant local levels, transport professionals and governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The government has banned the movement of long-distance vehicles from all districts from today till the 20th of October in view of the heavy to very heavy rains in various parts of the country and the resulting flood, landslides and inundation disasters.

This request was made after receiving information that some passengers who had left for their destination were stopped on the highway before the notification was issued, said Ram Bahadur KC, Deputy Secretary of the authority.
