The Department of Water and Meteorology has requested to exercise caution as there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in various places of the country from 8:00 PM today to 8:00 AM on Sunday.

Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, in a discussion with stakeholders regarding the monsoon situation and preparedness, Director General Kamal Ram Joshi said that they should be cautious as there is a possibility of very heavy rains.

Joshi said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains especially in Bagmati, Madhes, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces during this period and asked the residents living in the areas around the rivers to take special precautions. 

'Since there is a possibility of more than 200 millimeters of rain in these provinces from 10 tonight to 2 am on Sunday, it is necessary to be very alert,' he said. Joshi asked not to travel unnecessarily during this time. According to the department, there is an effect of water vapor-rich air (monsoon air) from the Bay of Bengal across the country.
