The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has requested the residents to be alert as the dengue disease caused by mosquito bites is still present.

As the infection of dengue disease continues, the Metropolitan Municipality has made it clear that the work of searching for the habitat of the mosquito that transmits the disease and destroying the larvae is being done vigorously.

The 'focal person' of KAMPA's Epidemic Disease Prevention and Control Program, Rishi Prasad Bhushal, informed that local residents along with associated health workers and women volunteers are also participating in the work of destroying mosquitoes and larvae conducted at all wards and community levels under the Metropolitan Municipality.

According to him, maximum efforts are being made to reduce and control the death rate of the city dwellers in view of the decreasing rate of dengue infection based on the analysis of the infection of the past years.  

For the first time in the metropolis, this infection was seen in a woman in Chamati area in 2075. According to the metropolis, the infection rate of this disease, which is usually seen during the dry season, is higher in the months of August, October and October.

The Aedes mosquito that spreads dengue infection lives in clean frozen water. The problem of dengue has started to appear in Nepal since 2061. In the year 2022, 2,973 people were infected with dengue in the metropolis. Similarly, in 2023, 643 people, 2024 in 2024 and 248 people have been infected with dengue since January of this year.

All are requested to take precautions to avoid dengue infection as there are places where water accumulates in the roads and roadbeds, pots kept in karesabari, pots kept with water, tires, kousi etc.  

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has set up a number 1180 to listen to health complaints, inquiries and initial consultation of common citizens. The telephone has been put into operation free of charge.
