The Sushila Karki-led government has decided to restore the three bodies brought to the Prime Minister's Office by KP Sharma Oli.

Thursday's Cabinet meeting brought back the Revenue Investigation Department, Asset Laundering Department and National Investigation Department.

The Cabinet has made the Revenue Investigation Department and the Asset Laundering Department under the Ministry of Finance and the National Investigation Department under the Home Ministry  Jagdish Kharel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said.

All these three departments were placed under the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

In the 2074 election, Oli, who became the Prime Minister after the UML and Maoists won a two-thirds majority, brought these three important departments under the Prime Minister's Office and centralized them.

The then Prime Minister Oli brought these departments under him on 16 February 2075 as an effort to consolidate power in the Prime Minister's Office.

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs, there are three security organs namely Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department, but after the department went under the Prime Minister's Office, there was a big weakness in security coordination.
