Special Congress of Maoists: Shrestha and Sharma differ on the proposal of Dahal being the coordinator

Other leaders have different opinions on the proposal of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to dissolve the Central Committee and appoint himself as the coordinator for the special convention. Senior Vice President of Maoist Narayankaji Shrestha and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma had a different opinion and demanded that Dahal should step down.

The Maoists have decided to hold a special convention in the last week of November to hand over the leadership to the youth after the Zen-G movement. On Friday, the Central Committee will decide the date of the convention. "The current central committee will be dissolved and transformed into a congress organizing committee, the current central committee, provincial office bearers and central representatives will remain in the organizing committee," said the political and organizational proposal submitted by Dahal, "the chairman will remain in the role of coordinator of the organizing committee and the office bearer will remain in the role of the secretariat of the organizing committee." A clear message of party reorganization should be started now in accordance with the preparations for the convention. In terms of the message given by the Gen-G movement, its impact and the appeal to be made in the election, it is appropriate for the chairman comrade to take leave from the executive leadership of the chairmanship,'' he opined.

Shrestha said that the leader of the second rank can be given the responsibility of the acting president. But he said that this process will be practically implemented only with Dahal's own consent. "Farewell to the responsibility of the executive leadership of the President Comrade should be done while maintaining respect for him and establishing his continuous ideological, directive and parental role," he mentioned.

Deputy Secretary General Janardan Sharma is of the opinion that everyone including Chairman Dahal should resign from their posts and hand over to the permanent committee members. "In order to advance the process of reorganization of the party, all the officials, including the chairman, should resign from their positions from this meeting. We should not be afraid to give the task to the standing committee to combine the party until the convention," he demanded. Discussion has started in 10 groups on the report of Dahal, Shrestha and Sharma. Maoist Vice President and Spokesperson Agni Sapkota said that the date of the convention will be decided after discussing the report of Chairman Dahal and other different opinions. "There will be an important decision for the special convention," he said.

Maoists have proposed to give priority to the youth and Gen-G generation in selecting candidates in the upcoming elections. Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal put forward such a proposal in the central committee held at Pragya Pratishthan in Kathmandu. He said that preparations for the convention and election should be carried forward together. The Maoists have concluded that there is a conspiracy to prevent the election on February 21 and that they should create an environment for the election.

President Dahal has claimed that after the Gen-G movement, in the name of investigating corruption, leaders are being jailed, political parties are banned and elections are being held in their favor. Even though a non-party government was formed after the Jain-G movement, the crisis over our achievements has not abated. "Regressive and reactionary movements remain," Dahal said in the report. The Maoists have also mentioned that they will initiate unity and polarization with like-minded parties.
