A courtesy meeting was held between Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising and China's Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song on Wednesday.
Chinese Ambassador Song congratulated the newly appointed Minister Ghising in a meeting at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport in Singhdarbar and wished him a successful tenure. In the
meeting, road and power transmission line connectivity between Nepal and China, construction progress of road and power projects contracted from Chinese construction companies, cooperation in the energy sector, implementation status of Chinese-aided projects, and Chinese investment were discussed. In the
meeting, Minister Ghising requested that the Kathmandu-Kodari (Araniko) and Syaprubansi-Rasuwagadhi roads, which connect Nepal and China by road, are important and sensitive, but they are vulnerable due to landslides and poor geographical location.
He requested to immediately start the work of Kalangki-Basundhara section which will be built with Chinese subsidy under Kathmandu Valley Ring Path expansion, many hydropower projects are under construction in the Arun River Corridor and to make Nepal's electricity market more competitive, to proceed with the construction of another international transmission line from Kimathanga.
