Parvati Devi, the daughter of Giriraj Himalayas, is mentioned in the Puranic texts including Kavach, Markandeya and other goddesses who are Shailaputri. Shailputri Devi is worshiped as the goddess of all.
It is also mentioned in various Puranas that Shailaputridevi was pleased with Himalaya's penance and prayer and was born as his daughter. Today, with Ghatasthapana, there is a throng of devotees who perform puja, worship and darshan at Shaktipeeth all over the country including Kathmandu Valley.
