Investigation of 'burnt money' started in Deuba and Khadka's house

The Money Laundering Investigation Department has launched an investigation into the money allegedly found in the burnt house of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader and outgoing Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka.

The team of the department reached the burnt houses of Deuba and Khadka on Sunday and proceeded with the investigation by raising the bond papers. The team collected some pieces of burnt notes from both the houses and ashes from the surrounding area.

During the 'Zen-G' movement, protesters vandalized and set fire to Deuba and Khadka's houses at Budhanilkanth on August 24. After the arson, videos of Nepali and foreign notes burning in their houses were published on social media. Those videos and photos have not been forensically examined. On the third day after the house was burnt down, the police stopped outsiders from entering the houses of both the leaders. After a week and a half of the incident, the department is investigating.

"Various pictures and videos were released that some of the leaders' houses were found on fire and some whole notes were taken away by the protestors. We were looking closely at this," said an officer of the department. will come in range. On the other hand, an officer of the Revenue Investigation Department also informed that they are investigating the issue of finding Nepali and foreign currency in the burning house of the leader on 'notice'.

An official informed that the team of the Asset Laundering Investigation Department is preparing to visit another former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's house in Khumaltar. Dahal's burning residence has also been guarded by the police. Dahal has been living elsewhere since the house burned down.

Congress president Deuba's secretariat has claimed that the videos claiming that the burnt money was found and that the tunnel was used to keep the money are misleading. Deuba's aide, Bhanu Deuba, in a statement issued on October 2, stated that the scenes shown on social media were fabricated, exaggerated and misleading, and were spread with the intention of defamation.

"Even after such a heinous criminal incident, our serious attention has been drawn to the fact that fake news such as excessive money found in Deuba's residence and the existence of a money tunnel are being circulated on various social networks with the aim of defaming the party leadership," the statement said.
