President Ramchandra Paudel has approved the bill to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063. According to a press release issued by the spokesperson of the President's Office, Pradeep Kumar Koirala, the bill was passed by both houses of the federal parliament and submitted for verification.
In this bill, citizenship can be obtained from the mother's name, and the father's name, surname and address cannot be mentioned in the citizenship certificate.
The House of Representatives passed the bill on June 14th, and the National Assembly passed the bill on August 6th. The bill passed by the National Assembly was sent to the House of Representatives with a message, and Speaker Devraj Ghimire verified it and sent it to the President's Office for verification.
