Home Minister Omprakash Aryal said that the law of collecting voter list is a hindrance and according to the judgment of the Supreme Court, he will bring an ordinance to arrange voting for Nepalis abroad. Home Minister Aryal had a discussion with the Election Commission Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and officials. Aryal said that the government will bring such an ordinance within a couple of days.
Minister Aryal said that after today's discussion, the conclusion that the necessary law amendment is necessary to ensure their voting rights as per the demand of gen-jis who have reached the age of 18 years and whose name is not included in the voter's list .
'The situation of a new government and a new election has been created by the revolt of the Jain-jis,' Home Minister Aryal said, 'elections cannot be held by keeping them out .'
The existing law states that voters cannot be added after the election date is announced. The Commission had informed this matter to Home Minister Aryal. After that, he asked to bring a proposal to amend the law and he said that the ordinance will be issued through the House.
Acting Chief Commissioner Bhandari said that since the election situation has come in the current situation, the Commission will not become an obstacle to ensure the rights of everyone by amending the necessary laws as per the demand for change. The officials of the commission informed the home minister that there is a vacancy in the commission and one member is also vacant. After their inquiries, Home Minister Aryal said that the government is aware that some officials are vacant in the commission and that some solution will be found.
In the past, the Supreme Court had asked Nepalis abroad to vote through the embassy of that country. But it was stopped as the amendment of the election law was underway. Earlier, the Election Commission had drafted the law and sent it. But the draft was stopped by the government saying for a long time discussion.
Home Minister Aryal said that the issues of the time and the time required for preparation were discussed and the discussions will continue with the commission.
