On the day of Bhadra Shukla Purnima, there is a Khagras (total covering) lunar eclipse on Sunday night. According to the Nepal Panchang Adjudicatory Development Committee, the eclipse touched down at 10:11 pm on Sunday. At 11:56 PM, the middle of the lunar eclipse, the eclipse ended at 01:41 PM.
Chairman of the committee Prof. Shambhu Prasad Dhakal informed that the lunar eclipse was seen from Kathmandu for three and a half hours. He also said that the lunar eclipse touched Nepal between east and southeast at 10:11 am and ended at 01:41 pm from southwest and west.
A total lunar eclipse is when the earth completely covers the sun. A lunar eclipse is when the earth, sun and moon fall in the same formula. This eclipse is the first eclipse of 2082 seen from Nepal.
This year, the committee has informed that there will be a lunar eclipse of Khandagras on the upcoming Phalgun Shukla Purnima. Lunar eclipse and solar eclipse occur on full moon day.
