Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that the media should point out the weaknesses of the government and convey the positive work to the people effectively. Addressing the 27th Annual General Meeting and Convention of Nepal Economic Journalist Society (SEJAN) here today, he said that the communication sector should proceed with both critical and suggestive approaches.

"It is the responsibility of communication to clearly expose the government's policy errors or weaknesses in implementation to the public," said Paudel, "and it is equally important to inform the citizens about the government's achievements and public interest." On that occasion, Finance Minister Paudel emphasized the importance of economic journalism and mentioned that the role of journalists is indispensable to strengthen the country's economy.

President of Nepal Confederation of Industry and Commerce Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that due to the covid epidemic, Russia-Ukraine tension, etc., the country's economy has been affected and it has been improving lately. Mentioning that the Federation is always taking initiatives to see how the private sector can play a role in improving the country's economic sector, he maintained that it is constantly giving suggestions to the government for legal and practical reforms.

However, Dhakal says that due to the weak implementation of the law, the expected results have not been achieved. In the event, Birendra Raj Pandey, President of the Nepal Industry Association, said that the association is studying how much investment is needed in which sectors to improve the country's economy and what policy and legal reforms should be made for that.

President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal said that although the economic indicators are expanding and improving, the private sector is still not ready for investment. He emphasized on the implementation of the suggestions and recommendations given to the government by the High Level Economic Reforms Suggestion Commission. In the program, the former presidents of Sejan expressed their opinion about the challenges facing the communication sector, the quality of journalism and the need for investigative news related to the economic sector.
