On the day of Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi, today is the main day of Indrajatra, which started with Indradhvajotthan in Hanumandhoka Darbar area on Thursday morning. 

Rajendra Dahal, Head of Guthi Sansthan Religious and Cultural Heritage Branch informed that Rath Yatra will be held in Talatol today. According to him, a chariot procession will be held in the upper town on Sunday.

On this Thursday 26th of August, Rath Tani Nanicha Yatra will be run by women only. On this day, in the evening, President Paudel will go to Hanumandho's palace and receive tika and prasad from Kumari. It is also a tradition for the President to exchange swords with the Kumari after receiving tika and prasad.

The process of this pilgrimage started after a forest trip to cut trees for lingo on the site decided by the Nepal Panchang Development Committee. After rituals such as forest yatra, tree cutting, entering Lingo Nagar, the Indra flag is raised on the day of Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi. 

Indrajatra is believed to have started during the time of Pratap Malla . King Gunakamadeva started the tradition of Ratha Yatra in Indra Jatra. This is the longest festival celebrated in the valley. 

Indra, who is worshiped as the god of rain and season, was ritually worshiped on Saturday . On the occasion of Jatra, there are cultural tableaus and dances including Lakhe dance, Dashavatar dance, Mahakali dance, Ramchandra dance, Pulukisi dance and others. On the occasion of this festival, a public holiday was given in Kathmandu Valley today.
