The House of Representatives has accepted the amendment made in the National Assembly on the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081. The Wednesday meeting of the House of Representatives also passed the Citizenship Bill.

The amendment from the National Assembly was accepted by the majority of the House of Representatives. In the House of Representatives, Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar presented a proposal to consider the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081.

After that, the MP who participated in the discussion expressed his belief that after the Citizenship Bill is passed, the existing problems faced by the citizens during the process of obtaining citizenship will be removed. They said that the system of obtaining citizenship through the mother's name will provide relief to the children who are not identified and who are not supported by the father.

Congress chief whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire supported the bill by connecting it with the respect of women. He expressed his belief that the citizenship bill will end the legal difficulties related to citizens. This bill is solving many problems of the nation. I want to thank the government and the minister for this . Despite having the right to obtain citizenship, citizens who are deprived of that right will feel ease after the passage of this bill. The Nepalese government has also started to adopt the universal recognition of getting citizenship in the name of both mother and father,' he said .

The chief whip of the main opposition Maoists, Hitraj Pandey, also supported the bill. He said that the Citizenship Bill respects women. Pandey was of the opinion that this bill would end the suffering of the citizens due to the provisions in the constitution but not being implemented in practice. He said, "The most important subject of this bill is the respect of women". This bill has solved the big problem in our society. Earlier, the citizens had to suffer because it was not written in the law even though it was provided in the constitution. This bill has solved that problem. The topic of giving identity cards to minors is also an important topic. It is welcome that there will be a record and no problems later. I also support this bill.''

Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar informed about the characteristics of the Citizenship Bill which originated in the House of Representatives and was passed by the National Assembly. He said that if this bill is implemented as a law, the mandates issued by the courts at different times will be implemented and uniformity will be maintained in the implementation of the orders given by the courts. "According to the spirit of the constitution, no Nepali citizen will be deprived of the right to obtain citizenship," the Home Minister said, "children born to a Nepali citizen mother will receive citizenship under the name of the mother, and the constitutional provision will be fully implemented." Children of citizens whose mothers or fathers have acquired citizenship by birth will be able to acquire naturalized citizenship.'

According to the changing social environment, the Minister of Home Affairs said that the children of Nepali women who have gone for foreign employment, who have to live without identity, have been given citizenship. He said that this bill also provides provision of minor identity cards to the children of Nepalese fathers or mothers to facilitate foreign travel.

This bill passed by the House of Representatives will be verified by the Speaker and sent to the President for verification. It will be implemented as a law after the President validates it.
