Clarifying that Nepali language is the language of government work, the Commission has objected to the provision of vehicle number plates in English language in Article 7, Clause 1 of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Language Commission has emphasized that the electronic sign (embossed number plate) attached to the vehicle should be in Nepali language.

The official language will be Nepali language. Clarifying that the arrangement is in Article 7, Sub-section 1 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Commission objected to the provision of vehicle number plates in English language  .

The commission has also informed about the constitutional arrangement and the decision of the Supreme Court that embossed number plates should be kept in Nepali language and not in the language and script not recognized by the constitution.

In the judgment of the Supreme Court on June 9, 2081 regarding the color classification of the Nepali language, it has been clarified that according to the provisions of Article 7, Sub-section 3 of the Constitution of Nepal, other language-related matters shall be as decided by the Government of Nepal on the recommendation of the Language Commission, to make all levels of government do the same.

Language Commission realizing its constitutional obligation to keep the electronic code numbers in Devanagari script according to the decision of August 1 of the commission, the attention of the Nepal government has been drawn again. Gopal Thakur gave the information.
