A case has been registered in the Kathmandu District Court against Ain Bahadur Mahar, who is also a central member of the UML, for being involved in character assassination, insult and defamation through Facebook. District Public Prosecutor's Office Kathmandu has filed an indictment demanding punishment along with compensation, saying that it has been confirmed that Mahar has committed an offense under subsection (1) of section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act 2063.

District Public Prosecutor  According to Ramhari Kafle, chief associate attorney of the Kathmandu office, even if the charge sheet is registered in the court, after the Ain Mahar appears in the court, there will be a debate after custody. 

It is mentioned in the charge sheet that Mahar used his Facebook ID to add the woman's name and expressed character assassination through live video. It is in the statement of the victim that Mahar called the victim a mentally ill, characterless professional woman and said that they should be avoided. She said that she has filed a complaint under the Electronic Transactions Act 2063 saying that since she was also a victim of a heinous crime like rape by dowry, she stole my honor and identity, spread hatred, caused pain and harassment and caused more physical and mental pain, and seriously affected my personal and family life. She has also demanded mental compensation for the mental torture she has suffered. Accused Mahar has claimed that everything mentioned in the complaint is false. He has claimed that he did not post the video, rather the victim is defaming him and his family.
