The retirement age limit in the civil service has not been decided, even today the legislative management committee meeting is sitting

What you should know

The Legislative Management Committee under the National Assembly could not decide on the mandatory retirement age limit proposed in the Federal Civil Service Bill. The House of Representatives has passed the mandatory retirement at the age of 58 in the first year of implementation of the Act, 59 in the second year and 60 years from the following years.

In the committee meeting held on Sunday, Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Bhagwati Neupane proposed to start the implementation from 59 years and extend it to 60 years, but could not agree on it. She said that due to technical reasons, it is appropriate to start retirement from 59 years. I humbly say let's gladly accept this offer,' she said. In the

committee, some MPs expressed their displeasure saying that they had reconsidered the matter that had been agreed upon for personal gain.

Meera Acharya, joint secretary of the ministry, pointed out the need to start the retirement age from 59, showing the impact on the Organization and Management (ONM) process and filling of posts.

Committee Chairman Tulsakumari Dahal said that the Ministry is trying to reconsider this section with the aim of amending it as it would be technically difficult.

To discuss this matter further today  Legislation Management Committee meeting will be held. In the meeting, there is a program to discuss the "Draft Report of the Federal Civil Bill, 2080". The meeting will be held at 11:30 am.
